Partnership with Groz-Beckert
For its production, Juta uses felting needles from Groz-Beckert. The close partnership between the two companies involves far more than that, however: in the development of its new products based on needled nonwovens, for instance, Juta makes use of extensive know-how provided by Groz-Beckert. Moreover, existing production processes at Juta are jointly optimised with regard to productivity and physical product characteristics. Intensive professional training of the Juta employees at Groz-Beckert enables the expertise of every single person to be individually enhanced. Parallel to this, their awareness of the special features of needle nonwovens is reinforced. Needling trials carried out in Groz-Beckert's new Technology and Development Centre (TEZ) round off the cooperation.
The history of Juta goes far back to the early years of the 19th century. On the basis of private firms that started by producing thread, fabric, sacks, yarn and rope from natural fibres, the state-run Jute and Hemp Company finally developed in 1956, with its headquarters in Prague. It was later renamed to Juta VEB. The site was moved within today's Czech Republic to Dvur Kralove.
Today Juta has a broad range of products for the construction industry and agriculture, as well as diverse technical materials. As well as the products mentioned Juta also manufactures synthetic turf for multifunctional applications, for the professional as well as the domestic sector. Over 80 percent of the products manufactured in the Czech Republic are exported. The company's annual turnover amounts to more than 170 million Euros.

Construction industry / Building construction: roofing
Roofing foils and roofing underlays are used in all conventional roof constructions, also with large-surface profile roofing in steep-roofed structures. They act as wind excluders on sloped and vertical constructions and as vapour barriers in steep- and flat-roofed buildings, or are processed where wall and floor constructions are concerned. They can also be used as separation or protection layers.
With the brands JUTAFOL D, JUTACON and JUTAFOL DTB, Juta offers multiple-layer fabric reinforced roofing foils and roofing underlays made from polyolefin.
This product has guaranteed special vapour permeability because of its micro-perforation.
Anti-condensation is guaranteed here by an underlaid moisture fabric.

Building construction: Plastic insulation foils
Waterproof membranes are used for the ground or surface waterproofing of waste disposal sites, for basins and various containers, for collecting industrial and agricultural wastewater - and also for barrel storage, tank storage, car parks and filling stations. They also prevent groundwater contamination on motorways. They offer protection against seepage from lakes and seas, and reliably insulate embankments, river canals, drinking containers, irrigation channels, weirs, dams, tunnels, bridges, viaducts and similar structures.
Building construction: Studded membranes and nonwovens
Studded membranes are used as replacements for concrete subbase for protective insulation. They are used for flat roofs, terraces, the renovation of damp walls, during drainage work in combination with geotextiles and for moisture and radon-proofing.
Geotextiles are frequently manufactured from polypropylene (PP) and polyester (PES) on the basis of nonwovens technology - mostly in needle-felt technology. They are mould- and bacteria-resistant and can even resist alkaline (PP) and acidic media (PP, PES). Products with high UV-resistance can also be manufactured. Flammability corresponds to the norm, and DIN 4102 (part I) in particular. The melting point lies at 165°C (PP) or 200°C (PES) and more. There is no water absorption. The nonwoven fabrics are delivered in membranes with widths of between 2 and 6.5 meters. They pose no danger to health. In building construction, geotextiles are used during the erection of various support structures, for instance. Further applications in this sector include the installation of roof systems plus insulation, drainage and filtration.
Civil engineering: plastic waterproofing membranes
The plastic waterproofing membranes used in the building construction sector are also required in civil engineering. The spectrum here ranges from street and waterway construction to various environmental projects.
Civil engineering: woven geotextiles
Woven geotextiles are used in the reinforcement of subsoils with low bearing capacities, e.g. in the construction of roads, motorways and access routes, as well as railway lines, airports and car parks. They are also used to reinforce landfills, embankments, support structures and fittings, and can also be found in drainage systems and hydraulic engineering structures. Juta has the right product to suit every application: GEOJUTEX is a black-coloured woven geotextile that is made from polypropylene strips by means of special weaving techniques. The high tensile strengths, crosswise as well as lengthwise, are distinctive here. GEOJUTEX fulfils various separation and filtration requirements and also offers a great variety of additional functions. The textile is also resistant to chemical and biological influences.
Construction industry / Civil engineering
Nonwoven fabrics are just as much in demand in civil engineering as woven geotextiles - and their applications are correspondingly similar, ranging from highway and airport construction to embankment stabilisation and erosion protection in general. Not least of all, nonwoven fabrics are used for dams, drainage projects, waterways and catchment basins, for the reclamation of waste disposal sites or as so-called 'geo-membranes'.
Agrotextiles absorb solar radiation, thereby reducing photosynthesis and preventing weed growth. They reduce the formation of herbicides, increase plant water intake, guarantee an evenly moist soil climate, even during dry periods, and thus reduce the need for care in general. Agrotextiles are also resistant to mould and bacteria. They are perfect for landscaping of municipal areas, streets and embankments, gardens and parks, as well as in the fruit- and vegetable-growing sectors, and also in the planting of decorative greenery or in tree nurseries.
A second product in the Juta range for agriculture is extruded nets. These are used as baling nets in the processing of straw and hay.
Furthermore Juta offers flexible bulk containers. These are made entirely from polypropylene and are generally woven. At Juta they range from simple, standard containers to dustproof and dimensionally stable ones that can also be individually built to customers' specifications.
