PosiLeno® – makes leno weaving doubly worthwhile

PosiLeno® – for a niche with high potential

Leno fabrics are characterised primarily by loose yet extremely stable bindings. The areas of application for leno fabrics are correspondingly diverse: from deco materials for curtains and domestic textiles to robust fabrics for technical applications such as plantation covers or protection for sloping areas and dykes. Leno weaving is technically sophisticated and represents an economically interesting niche, where the right equipment can generate higher profits.

In conventional leno weaving shops the machines have to be elaborately set up with the aid of lifting frames and doup frames, leno yokes and leno springs. High rpm speeds, as with other weaving techniques, were thus impossible. Leno fabrics have therefore been produced to this day on the basis of conventional equipment and often at a maximum of 200 rpm.

PosiLeno® – the positively controlled leno system

PosiLeno® is the global innovation in leno-woven fabric production and is revolutionising economic efficiency in leno weaving. Two years ago Groz-Beckert presented a system under the brand name "GROB by Groz-Beckert" that can be installed on modern weaving machines without limitations and at no great expense. All the textile advantages of conventional leno weaving are preserved.

With tried-and-tested GROB quality as a basis, and unrivalled performance parameters as firm proof of technological superiority, PosiLeno® offers users higher flexibility and more diversity than other systems. The doup frame sets new standards and opens up significant advantages in comparison to conventional solutions. The system's degree of innovation is proven by the applied-for patent. The new leno unit consists of two lifting frames and one positively controlled doup frame plus form-optimized leno healds. The positive control of the doup frame takes place via movement of the lifting frames, which are controlled either by a dobby or a cam shedding motion. By means of especially developed drive levers and articulated connections, the movement sequence of the lifting frame is translated into an optimal sequence for the movement of the doup frame and the leno healds. The devices required until now for upper or lower connection of leno springs or leno yokes are no longer needed. The positively-controlled leno system can be successfully used for all fabrics with leno binding - whether technical textiles, domestic textiles or clothing. The system is applicable to both the upper / lower shed leno technique and the upper shed leno technique with fixed auxiliary frame.

Overview of benefits

  • 100% higher production speeds compared to conventional leno systems
  • Infinite patterning possibilities
  • Full flexibility retained for article changes
  • Standard fabrics can be produced on the same weaving machine just as before
  • Simple way to start leno weaving
  • Can be used on modern machines
  • Reduced stress on heald frames and doup frames despite higher rpm, due to optimised shed formation movements.
